RONALD HAE: JUST MARRIED A 7-CAMERA DEBUT SPECIAL AT COMEDY BAR DANFORTH.
Ronald Hae, a high school accounting teacher by day, recorded his first full-length stand-up special on the main stage at Comedy Bar Danforth. Links Live Media was the technical production partner: we designed the lighting and camera coverage, shot two shows on seven cameras with a crew of four, and edited and mixed the 30-minute special that CB Max released on October 19, 2026.

A first special that looks like a broadcast
Gary Rideout Jr., owner of Comedy Bar Toronto, brought Ronald to us to talk about producing his first special. As CB Max’s production partner, we shoot specials and short sets for the channel on a regular release schedule, and this one had to hold up next to everything else on it.
The goal was simple to say and hard to do in a club: make a 30-minute set feel like a television special, with clean, well-lit coverage of every joke and the room’s reaction, while keeping Ronald’s own vision for the show at the centre of every decision.
Seven cameras, four people
We designed the look of the stage and the camera angles with Ronald, then built the coverage around the main stage:
- Two Sony FR7 PTZ cameras at centre for a wide and a tight shot
- Two FR7s at either end of the stage for front-side angles
- One FR7 on a slider in the middle of the audience
- One FR7 on stage for a reverse angle of the stage and crowd
- A Sony FX6 on a shoulder rig with a wide-angle lens, roving the venue
For lighting, we added front fill and edge light and adjusted the colour temperature and stage wash so the room reads warm and clean on camera. Every camera recorded in-camera, the switcher recorded a live line cut, and audio was recorded as separate tracks on a multitrack board: the stage mic, audience mics around the room and on-camera mics, so the laughs sound like the room, not a thin feed.
Robert Metcalfe directed the technical production and switched the show live. One operator ran all six FR7s, combining auto-tracking with manual control of the critical shots, and a second operated the roving FX6, with a dedicated sound operator on the board. Because the show was finished in post, a crew of four could cover seven cameras; for a live broadcast or stream we scale the crew up to keep the show running smoothly.
Built from the live cut, timed to the joke
We recorded two full shows and cut both in full. Working with Ronald, we then took the strongest moments from each to build the final special.
The live line cut gave us the shape of the edit, but every camera change was recut for the precise timing of each joke, using the isolated angles from all seven cameras. The edit took about a month, with Ronald reviewing at each stage, and we did the final sound mix in-house. CB Max then scheduled the release for October 19, 2026.
25,000 views in three weeks
In its first three weeks on CB Max, Just Married reached about 25,000 views from 121,000 thumbnail impressions, with a 7% click-through rate and 11,500 engaged viewers.
It’s one of more than 25 full stand-up specials and over 100 short sets Links Live Media has shot for CB Max since the channel launched in 2025, and the channel’s content is also licensed to SiriusXM. Shooting specials on a schedule like that has let us refine a production method that runs smoothly night after night.
